Kerstin Grether „Zungenkuss“
Design as Defense
An editorial series’ design guidelines do often pose an obstacle for the design of a book cover. In this case, the publisher's layout left practically no leeway for creativity. The results of our experiments with photos all gave the impression that Grether's latest book wasn't a first edition, but the pocket book edition of an older text.
The author therefore decided to use illustrations throughout the book — on the cover, on the back and on the inside — in order to visibly take charge of her book's appearance.
